This relates to the first essential of AACN, which pertains to the scientific foundations for DNP nurses’ practice. According to this essential, DNP nurses possess extensive knowledge and skills that can be applied to patient care and driving social change. It emphasizes the use of science-based theories to understand health and healthcare needs, implement nursing actions, and evaluate care outcomes.
Walden University’s mission also connects with the AACN competency of self-leadership. The AACN stresses that DNP nurses should demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, manage, and develop themselves to enhance their professional contributions and organizational value.
