Ranking of Best Hospitals for Nurses

The top hospitals for nurses were evaluated using data from different sources: the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), Hospital General Information from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program, and individual ratings by a pair of nurses. More than 5,000 hospitals from the CMS dataset were assessed. The top hospitals were determined by considering seven hospital measures with varying weights.

HCAHPS Patient Survey

The rankings considered the HCAHPS Patient Survey, which gathers feedback from recently discharged patients. The rankings included scores for nurse communication and overall patient experience, each given a weight of 10%. The data was collected on August 11, 2022.

CMS Hospital General Information

The CMS provides overall hospital ratings based on up to 50 measures grouped into categories like mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, and timely care. The rankings incorporated data on overall hospital ratings and the number of safety measures exceeding the national average.
