Using HESI Analytics to Improve Your Studies
By Brandon Thompson
Once you’ve completed your HESI exam, take a short mental break and then log in to review your remediation packets. This step is crucial for your success with HESI. The remediation provides direct insights into the content areas you should focus on, based on the questions you answered incorrectly during the exam. Here’s a screenshot of my HESI portal for reference.

As you go through your remediation packets and take notes, also examine your detailed test scores. Below is a screenshot of my remediation packet for a specific exam. Pay close attention to subcategories and your scores in them. Identify your weak and strong areas. While doing this, avoid over-studying content you’re already well-versed in. Instead, concentrate on improving your weak points.
After completing the steps mentioned above – take your time and do it carefully – check your scores. HESI typically has various passing scores: a required passing score, one set by your school, a national average, and your class average. I recommend focusing on the national average, as it reflects your performance on a nationwide level. This might even give you an idea of how you’ll perform on the NCLEX when the time comes. The other scores are informative, but don’t compare yourself to others.

Pay close attention to the subcategories and how you scored on them. What areas were you weak in? What area are you strong in? While answering these questions for yourself, eliminate redundant studying. Do not exhaust your time on content you know extensively It is better to focus on your weak areas.
After you’ve done the above mentioned, this should not be rushed but done diligently, look at your scores.
