EVIDENCE-BASED PROJECT, PART 2: Advanced Levels of Clinical Inquiry and Systematic Reviews

Your journey to purchase a new car begins with identifying the factors that matter most to you. As you embark on the search for cars that excel in those key aspects, you gather evidence and strive to comprehend the extent of that evidence. A report suggesting that a particular make and model of automobile offers high mileage is promising. However, questions arise: Who authored the report? How reliable is it? What was the methodology for data collection, and what was the sample size?

In this Assignment, you will delve deeper into clinical inquiry by closely examining your PICO(T) question and further analyze the evidence you have collected.

Before commencing this activity, ensure you review the Learning Resources.
Access the weekly resources via the provided link.

To Get Prepared:

1. Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can serve as the foundation for a clinical inquiry.

2. Formulate a PICO(T) question that addresses the clinical issue you identified in Module 2 for this Assignment. This PICO(T) question will remain constant throughout the course.

3. Utilize the keywords from the PICO(T) question you developed and search at least four different databases in the Walden Library. Locate a minimum of four relevant systematic reviews or other filtered high-level evidence, including meta-analyses, critically-appraised topics (evidence syntheses), and critically-appraised individual articles (article synopses). The evidence you find may not address all elements of your PICO(T) question, so focus on the most vital concepts to search for and identify the best available evidence.

4. Reflect on the process of constructing a PICO(T) question and conducting a search for peer-reviewed research.

The Assignment (Evidence-Based Project)

Part 2: Advanced Levels of Clinical Inquiry and Systematic Reviews

Create a 6- to 7-slide PowerPoint presentation in which you:

1. Identify and provide a brief description of your chosen clinical issue of interest.

2. Describe how you formulated a PICO(T) question centered on your chosen clinical issue of interest.

3. List the four research databases you employed for your peer-reviewed article search at the systematic reviews level.

4. Present APA citations for the four pertinent peer-reviewed articles related to your research question. In cases where systematic review level articles or meta-analyses are unavailable on your topic, utilize the highest level of evidence from peer-reviewed articles.

5. Detail the levels of evidence found in each of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected. Additionally, explain the merits of employing systematic reviews in clinical research, providing specific examples.
